Tell Me

Yes, this is a real human story. My story. One of many.

It's been about twenty years since those days.

Back then I worked tech support for an internet provider. The boss's wife had a habit of standing by the door every morning, waiting to find someone to torment.

Sometimes it was the uniform. Sometimes it was the tone of your voice. Sometimes it was nothing at all.

The hours were long. The culture was worse.

Phones ringing non-stop. Customers yelling. Managers yelling louder.

The company is long gone now. But some things stay with you.

And a lot of people have lived through something similar.

So… Tell me.

Let me tell ya something... 5:50 AM The alarm pulls me from the otherside. I take a very quick shower To catch the six-thirty bus Then thirty minutes walking Just to face my boss's wife She’s waiting by the door Already picking fights... "Hey! Your uniform is wrong!" Shit... SHIT. Monday to Friday... Saturday till noon. Drowning in despair In a tiny room Philanthropy smiles... For the town to see. But behind closed doors... FUCK YOU Fuck Me! So... tell me... Two hour lunch Too far to go home Empty stomach and lot of shit going on. So... I cried under my desk. Hoping no one saw. Monday to Friday Saturday till noon Drowning in despair In a tiny room Philanthropy smiles... For the town to see. But behind closed doors... FUCK YOU Fuck Me! Phones are ringing Voices full of rage "The internet is down! You gotta help me out!" So, I read them cake recipes Read them the news Customers are happy... But the manager blew a fuse! Six PM Should be heading out Not without working an hour extra. Without pay... Irony, of course... See, my boss just bought a brand new Porsche. Glad I could help. Monday to Friday... Saturday till noon. Drowning in despair In a tiny room Philanthropy smiles... For the town to see. But behind closed doors... FUCK YOU Fuck Me! So... tell me... Are we making a living or just staying alive?

The voice leads a narrative with intimacy and intensity, alternating soft, whispered moments with emotional expressions typical of rock. It's a track that seduces with both the captivating simplicity of pop and the expressive freedom of jazz and the pulsating energy of rock.
